The Portland Hotel Bar & Kitchen is ideally placed to discover all that Northumberland has to offer. Situated southeast of the region, four miles from the historic market town of Morpeth. We are in easy reach of Newcastle city centre & just a short distance from Newcastle international airport.

Fire Alarm

The fire alarm is a piercing siren that cant be mistaken & should never be ignored. As soon as you here it please make your way to the fire assembly point situated in the car park, Via your designated escape route marked on the plans on the back of your bedroom door.

Hair Dryer

All rooms have a hair dryer situated in the drawer on your dressing table.

Iron & Ironing Board

Can be obtained from reception on request

Cots & Children's Beds

During school holidays & other busy periods, demand can be high. We advise you to notify us of the need, when making your booking. There is an additional fee for these items

Guest Laundry & Dry Cleaning

Laundry services are available items dropped off at the front desk before 8.45am will be returned by the evening of the same day (excludes Sundays)

Smoking

U.K. Law prohibits smoking indoors in public areas. Including hotels bars & restaurants If evidence of smoking is found in your room a minimum fee of £150 will be charged. Smoking is also prohibited at & near the main entrance of the hotel, please use the patio area adjacent to the main building.

Television

All TVs have free view, some rooms have smart TVs which allows you to stream music, movies & other content from mobile devices as well as subscription services A minimal fee will be charged for this service. We advise you request this TV option when making your reservation

Checking In

Check in is from 3:00pm, but if you arrive ahead of time & your room is ready then of course we’ll check you in. (Early check in available from 1:00pm £15 surcharge)

Check Out

By 11am, although if you fancy a lie in or simply need your room a little longer, we may be able to accommodate you, there will be a minimal fee for this service

House Keeping

Rooms are cleaned every day and we try to time this to coincide with when you will be away from the hotel. Place your “Tidy My Room’ sign on the outside of your door to indicate you are away from your room. Dirty towels are replaced daily (place them in the bath)

Internet

Fast free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, bar & restaurant (subject to availability and device compatibility). Just follow the instructions on the login page on your web browser.

Luggage

If you are checking out & want to store your bags, please leave them at the main reception for safe keeping.

Newbiggin Paddleboard Hire

Newbiggin bay is a hidden gem for paddleboarders. The breakwater that provides a base for the now-famous “the couple” statue also provide shelter from the open sea.
This means that there are more days per year when the sea is calm Perfect for paddleboarding. Paddleboarding is a great way to take in the sights of this quaint fishing village from a new perspective, Looking in from the water. 

Newbiggin bay has become a regular sighting location for pods of dolphins. Imagine being the lucky ones to get up close to them on the paddleboards.

LONGHIRST HALL GOLF CLUB

Longhirst boasts 2 championship courses, of which both have hosted The PGA Europro tour for 9 years.

Having 2 courses allows us to cater for both our growing membership, and visiting parties, 7 days a week.
